Investors & risk issues

And what about people who over invest ignoring all risk?

Greed? ya probably... you heard of a friend making big money on something & you wanted to duplicate that & what best to do like wise...... &  without ample research.

Dont be so naive please.... That so call news you heard, the Insider information???? hmmm.... likely when it comes to you it's really no good any more. That's what happens when one is inexperience. Nothing is for free in this world! Even recommendations by bankers is not to be trusted sometimes as there are those that put their commissions above clients interests. That' s really short term thinking. You do it to a client once, they dont come back anymore.

But sometimes it's not the bankers fault. WE have clients who after a few very positive gains, becomes complancent & took bigger risk & got burnt. So best advice...... take the advice from bankers  but do your own research please!!!! Always remember if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

What's happening to investors?

People are not investing....sigh.... why are they holding on to cash when inflation is going so high? Is Cash really king? But Dont they realise that their money is getting smaller by the minute?

We were debating this yesterday. The day was long & sort of quiet, so.....
The financial crisis really had driven home the point that banks are not infalliable. It spook private investors so much they are probably keeping cash in biscuit tins now! Cant blame the can we?

There is a mistrust going on. Lately some clients even told me they do not believe we are acting in investor's  best interest  vs the banks best interest. There seem to be a general lack of mistrust in providers such as fund advisors or asset managers like us.

PLus there is also no Loyalty. Investors are just not loyal anymore! Our seniors told us this is probably due to the fact that banks here are too similar plus people like us, do job hop alot thus not being able to forge any lasting relationships with our clients ... oh ya blame it on us!!!!!

I feel investors are just more sceptic towards the markets than before that's all. Who can blame them? They feel that equity markets are working against them instead of for them!

Insider Trading

Lately there's MORE interesting stuff going on in the banking industry. Former Goldman Sachs director R Gupta (a Wall Street super star) was sentenced to 2 years in prison & fined US$5 million, for insider trading in the states.

He was found guilty for leaking information about a 5 billion dollar investment in Goldman by Warren Buffet's Bershire Hathaway during 2008. And if you remember,  this is the period where there's a global crisis-  Goldman Sachs was in trouble but was on the verge of being rescue by an infusion of 5 billion dollars. This Gupta guy upon hearing this, immediately tipped his friend Rajaratnam, so that he can trade on this information just minutes before the market closes! I dont know, but this really sounded like something from a movie, but guess what .... it happens in real life!

Apparently the judge was pissed & equate this action to stabbing Goldman in the back!!! Truth is insider trading is a very easy crime to commit but very hard to catch, so that's why judge is sending a message to others by sentencing Gupta to jail. By the way the Raja guy , his friend gets  11 yrs. And Gupta maintain that he did not profit from his action.... now do you believe that?...lol....

We were all kinda making a list of how these people can hide these money, & after the jail, they come out & enjoy life as millonaires AGAIN!!!! As for the jail sentence, after deduction of hoildays etc... they are probably out sooner than later. Meanwhile it's the little people who suffers!!!

Hungry after a swim???? why?

Some researchers think it's because of the water temperature.

The pool water is usually quite cool- so when you swim in this temp water, the body attempts to reheat itself- therefore it sets off all kinds of trigger for you to eat for extra energy!
So the advise is for one to do some exercise to increase body temperature to combat the post swim cravings.

cute ???

Gold Moon cakes???

This piece of news caught my eye immediately since I've been complaining about eating too much moon cakes lately. But in Beijing they have GOLD mooncakes as in real gold! If I have those, I would not complain...hahhaha.... Anyway these gold gifts cost as much as S$8,400- for 2! And was reported as being sold out! It's being used as a camouflage for corruption, where people use them as "lawful gifts" to bribe corrupt officials!!!!

Do you wash "ready-to eat" salads?

You know those bagged salads that they sell in super markets... that says pre-washed & all. Safe to just eat off the bag? I ask the staff & they said it's safe. He went on to tell me the process where I forgot but it's apparently very SAFE!!!

In fact if there's a weak link with this cleanliness issue, it's our own "not-so -clean" hands. So before you even attempt to eat these lovely greens, please wish your hands properly!!!
